Mentoringthree teams
I mentored 3 startup teams, 12 students, through a 14-day selling sprint. Between them they made about ₹2.9 lakh, and one of them climbed from near the bottom to third place.
The setup
Three teams of four students were building and selling something real over a 14-day window. I worked with all three every day, not just in scheduled meetings. My part was strategy: what to focus on, who to sell to, and what to stop doing.
Nani Ki Imli: the comeback
The comeback story of the whole cohort. They made only ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 on their first flea day, and sat around 19th or 20th in the competition. Over the next week they reached out one by one to businesses and customers, B2B and D2C, and their revenue climbed to ₹1.3 lakh. They finished third.
Brood Bros: consistent
One of the best aesthetics on the ground, and consistent from the start. About ₹10,000 in sales in their first week, then ₹80,000 to ₹90,000 in the second. About ₹90,000 across the 14 days.
Moonlight
The third team, at around ₹70,000 over the sprint.
What happened
Combined, about ₹2.9 lakh. Those figures are as the teams told me, and the revenue belongs to them and their work, not to me.
What I learned
- A slow start is not a verdict. The team that sold ₹3,000 on day one finished third, by changing who they talked to.
- Saying no is most of strategy.
- Showing up daily changes the outcome more than good advice once.
